The 2025 Gotham Awards nominations have officially launched awards season with a lineup that celebrates both artistic daring and studio muscle. Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” leads with six nominations, followed by A24’s “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” with four, and Neon’s Cannes-winning duo “It Was Just an Accident” and “No Other Choice” with three each.

The Gotham Awards ceremony will be held on December 1, 2025, at Cipriani Wall Street, with Tribute Awards going to Noah Baumbach, Tessa Thompson, the cast of Sinners, and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.

I still have a few of these films and performances left to catch up on but I can already feel this awards season taking shape. The Gotham list always sets the first pulse, and this year’s mix of names feels especially alive. I can’t wait to dive deeper and see which of these titles truly hold up when the lights go down.
