I can’t believe I get to say this… I’ve been officially accredited to attend the El Gouna Film Festival 2025!

gouna

This will be the very first film festival I ever attend and I honestly have so many thoughts running through my head but mainly, I’m just so happy and excited. For years, I’ve been thinking about this idea of creating a website to write, review and follow festivals from afar and this October, I finally get to live the experience in person.

I can’t wait to sit in those screenings, soak in the atmosphere, and maybe even catch a glimpse of some of the biggest names in cinema—looking at you, Cate Blanchett, and the incredible Menna Shalaby, who will be honoured with the Career Achievement Award at this year’s eighth edition.

I’ll be sharing the journey here: the films I watch, the moments that move me and everything in between. This is a milestone for me, and I’d love for you to join me along the way.

Here are 12 Films I’m Excited to See at El Gouna 2025:

  1. It Was Just an Accident — Jafar Panahi (Palme d’Or winner)

  2. Sentimental Value — Joachim Trier (Cannes Grand Prix)

  3. Dreams (Sex Love) — Dag Johan Haugerud (Berlinale Golden Bear & FIPRESCI)

  4. Blue Moon — Richard Linklater (Silver Bear for Andrew Scott)

  5. Better Go Mad in the Wild — Miro Remo (Karlovy Vary Grand Prix)

  6. Resurrection — Bi Gan (Cannes Special Prize)

  7. Sound of Falling — Mascha Schilinski (Cannes Jury Prize)

  8. The Devil Smokes (And Saves the Burnt Matches in the Same Box) — Ernesto Martínez Bucio (Berlinale Best First Feature)

  9. Always — Deming Chen (CPH:DOX Award winner)

  10. Orwell: 2+2=5 — Raoul Peck (I Am Not Your Negro director)

  11. A Poet — Simón Mesa Soto (Un Certain Regard Jury Prize)

  12. Adam’s Sake — Laura Wandel (Opened Cannes Critics’ Week)

Each one brings a unique perspective, from intimate personal stories to urgent political commentary, and they set the tone for what’s shaping up to be an incredible festival lineup.

Stay tuned! this is just the beginning 🌟
