Oh, Hi! pulled me in right away with its easygoing story about chance encounters turning into something more.
Molly Gordon is the heart of the film. She’s funny, crazy and gives the film a real sense of honesty. Her chemistry with Lerman feels natural and unforced and together they make simple conversations feel alive. Gordon has this way of delivering humor that sneaks up on you and then suddenly feels heartfelt.
I laughed more than I thought I would. The humor is easy to enjoy and comes across naturally, almost like it was lifted out of real life. A few moments had me pausing the film to laugh before I could continue. It reminded me why I love good low budget indie films there’s no gloss or overproduction, just sharp writing and actors who know how to hold your attention.
The ending completely caught me off guard. I thought I had the story figured out but the final turn gave the film more weight than I expected. It wrapped everything up in a way that was both surprising and satisfying.
For me, Oh, Hi! was one of those indie gems that sneaks up quietly and then sticks with you long after it’s over.
